When to Use the AIR CON TOP UP System
If your car's air conditioning isn't blowing cold air, it may be low on gas. Use the AIR CON TOP UP system to refill it and restore cold air. It also includes a sealer for small leaks in plastic and rubber 'O' rings.
How to Check if the Compressor is Running
Listen for a Click: When you turn on the air conditioning, a click and increased engine revs indicate the compressor is working.
Visual Check: In the engine compartment, the compressor will spin when the air conditioning is on and stop when it's off.
Gauge Fluctuation: Connect the gauge to the low side port. A fluctuating reading means the compressor is running.
Obtaining a Reading on the Gauge/Hose
Ensure the hose tap is screwed down completely.
Connect the gauge to the low-pressure port (it only fits the low port).
Pull back the plastic ring, push the connector onto the port, and release the ring with a click.
With the outside temperature above 15°C/58°F, turn on the engine, set the air con to the coldest setting, use recirculation if available, open all vents, and set the fan to full. Take the reading.
Adding TOP UP & DYE or LEAK STOPPER
Separate the hose and gauge, wind the hose tap to the up position.
Choose the can (TOP UP & DYE or LEAK STOPPER) and screw it onto the hose tap, then back off half a turn.
Connect the hose to the car’s low side port.
Turn the tap fully down to pierce the can and close the valve.
Invert the can, slowly unscrew the tap to empty its contents into the A/C system.
After the can is empty, screw the tap down to close it, disconnect the hose, and slowly unscrew the can from the hose, pointing it away from you to release any remaining gas.
